Summary of Responsibilities:

The Student Account Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the Highlands College accounting department, managing student financial accounts with a focus on accuracy, effective communication, and upholding policies. The Coordinator will interact with students, families, donors, and the Highlands College team to address questions related to student accounts and develop a financial coaching program for our students. This role requires high personal stewardship, emphasizing ethical behavior, excellent financial management, and a commitment to serving the needs of students and their families with integrity and compassion.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Account Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of student accounts, including tuition and fees, payments, scholarships, and financial aid
  • Monitor and track outstanding balances and review with Manager weekly
  • Coordinate communication with students regarding invoicing, payment plan options, and payment deadlines
  • Prepare and submit reports on student billing and housing, payment trends, and outstanding balances for management review
  • Assist in implementing a new student information system for student account processes

Student Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to student billing, payments, and account discrepancies.
  • Managing and resourcing all questions received by Highlands College related to Student Accounts
  • Lead financial coaching program for students identified as at-risk or needing budget coaching
  • Provide one-on-one or group coaching for students
  • Assist students in creating and maintaining budgeting skills, financial goal setting, building credit, debt repayment, and savings
  • Help students navigate placement with a financial mindset

Other Duties

  • Be actively engaged in ministry at Church of the Highlands and Highlands College by leading small groups
  • Affirm and uphold the Statement of Faith and the Core Values and DNA of the College, exemplifying all by word and lifestyle

Education

  • An associate degree or higher is preferred

Experience

  • Experience with Excel is required; all Microsoft 365 platforms are preferred
  • Experience with student information systems and customer relationship management systems is preferred
  • Have experience working with budgeting, financial goal-setting, building credit, debt repayment, and savings
